Walking cycle break down — The Animator’s Survival Kit

Before we started animating, in the performance class we practiced how each part of the body is involved in walking, and how the different ways of walking shape the character. Actually, it seems to me that walking is the most basic and essential part of character performance. It makes a difference with the first appearance and action of the characters.

Last year I’ve made some basic walking animation in my short film Guns and Songs. Now I wish to improve my character’s “acting skills”, to make them more personalised and more emotional.
